Olive oil: a natural beauty ally
Olive oil, the protagonist of the Italian kitchen and table, is a simple, natural and cheap ingredient, but also an ideal product for cosmetics use. It can be used on facial skin – especially on dry and delicate skin – and as a makeup remover: you only need a few drops on a diskette or a cotton ball to remove traces of makeup. After well-cleansed your face, you pass a floppy disk with a few drops of oil on the face. It gently massages the entire face softened by the oil. Finally rinse with a mild soap and warm water. Olive oil is also an excellent ingredient for facial masks: here are two simple recipes to make at home.
Nourishing and soothing mask for dry or normal skin: 2 teaspoons of olive oil, half a teaspoon of honey and two teaspoons of yoghurt; mix it all together and spread on the face for 15 minutes, then rinse with warm water.
Purifying mask for mixed, impure and oily skin: a small teaspoon of oil, the same amount of honey, two teaspoons of white clay (if needed, to mix add a teaspoon of warm water and a quarter of a teaspoon of fresh lemon juice); mix it all together, spread it and keep it on for 15 minutes.
